Sea Scouts

Sea Scouts meet every Friday evening, with a cohort of boys and girls aged between 10½ and 14 years.

In addition to the more traditional Scouting activities, as a Sea Scout Unit, there is a distinct nautical bias. Recent activities have included taking part in Global Challenge, an ice-skating evening, and team building games in the local park. As well as the Nautical Skills badgework, they have been working towards the World Challenge badge.

During the boating season, the Sea Scouts enjoy kayaking, rafting and powerboating on the River Medway during weekday sessions. In addition, our Sea Scouts are offered the opportunity to learn to sail at Bough Beech Sailing Club, including gaining nationally-recognised RYA qualifications. We run an annual week-long summer camp that is always well-attended due to the range of water and land-based activities that we organise. Recent camps have been held at Weymouth, Burnham-on-Crouch and Lymington.

Our Sea Scout Unit is currently at full capacity. As such, we are not currently offering waiting list places for Scouts. However, there are a number of other Scout groups within the Tonbridge District.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
